Small wooden shack in Lucky Well vineyard

Lucky Well russian river valley, occidental, sonoma county

Pinot Noir

Lucky Well is every bit the Russian River Valley local boy in personality; it’s accessible in simple geographical terms, and the wine makes sense in that context. In the sub-suburban setting of Occidental, it is close to upscale groceries and charmed bistros with patches of rural in all directions.

Red building at Lucky Well Vineyard

Lucky Well seems to be land-locked, but is actually the same distance from the Pacific Ocean as its sibling vineyard, Nobles, and at 1,000 feet is nearly the same elevation.

Originally planted and managed by grower Ulises Valdez, the B. Wise fruit is mainly from the Pommard clone, giving a classic California coastal Pinot that is round and lush, a big style tending toward darker fruits. Persuasively easy for tending a chair at the end of the day.
