Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2013
From two vineyards: Huntington Hill, on marine sediment soils, this site is low-vigor and windy, keeping crops low & dry and flavor concentrated. The Fair Sing vineyard in Yamhill-Carlton planted to the late ripening Wadensvil clone, a risk in the short season Willamette, known for lovely fruit and nuance. Blackberry, blueberry, and friar plum fruit flavors are accented by mineral, crushed stone, and violet floral notes and an intriguing underlying earthiness. In the mouth the wine is dense and compact showing some youthfulness. Finishes with lovely vibrancy and freshness. Will benefit from another year or two in the bottle. 195 cases produced.
